THANKFUL?....

....to express gratitude, appreciation, or acknowledgment to

So much to be THANKFUL for and yet I know down deep (perhaps really deep)I tend to let my days be filled with complaining, grumbling, sighing, etc. The thought of not being Thankful enough popped in my mind this morning and I know this is true. And there is no one who likes a "grumbler/complainer". Your Creator or your fellow human being even if he is one he doesnt really want to hear yours. Like on Valentines day shouldnt be the one "main" day you express Love. Nor should Thanksgiving be the one day to "give thanks". so in the midst of our 24/7 days let this be a reminder to self and those who read this to give Thanks..and to start out here is just a few things I am thankful for..
God, His Love for Me
Life
Freedom to live as I please
My Family Wife, Son, Mom Brothers, Sister, In Laws..
Friends
Living In the USA
Being Bless that we may bless others
Laughter
Music
Mission Trips (friendships,experiences)
Work/Job
Seasonal weather
shelter (basic needs overlooked)
food/clean water
vacations

Youth Center
concerts
Pastors/Speakers
Church

campfires

Thankful

In just passing with the day of Thanksgiving. I thought I would stop and take time to be thankful. Fact of the matter is that most of us take only this day or perhaps the month of November to express thankfulness. But through it all most of us (well all of us) have something to be thankful for everyday of our lives.

So some time ago my wife and I took a moment and listed things that we were thankful for, I'm sure even with this list we have missed out on something. But in all the complaining and grumbling we do in life there is even more reason(s) to be thankful.

Life
Provision
Noah
Gods Word
Knowing My Grandparents
Mom
Family
Shelter
Great Cloud of Witness
Laughter
Wife/Husband
Freedom
Books
Music
Clean Water
Love (and all that involves)
Getaways (past & future)
Music Ability
Canaan
Mission Trips
Jesus Christ

Obviously they are in no certain order but as I copy that list I thought of other things such as technology,,four seasons, stars, campfires, even hamburgers ketchup & peanut butter..

the list goes on and on. And Thanks for taking time to read this blog. So what are You thankful for?

What Happened?????

OK folks, help me out with this one. I was in the mall the other day and while it didn't surprise me, it did disturb me.

WHAT HAPPENED TO THANKSGIVING????

I've been in retail and I know that many businesses depend on the Christmas season ( and yes I said Christmas and not "holiday"). While I'm kind of glad that retailers haven't marketed Thanksgiving like they have Christmas, I feel like I've already missed Thanksgiving and it hasn't even happened yet. Can you imagine retailers trying to make a profit off of selling one turkey to each family?
I guess that's why I haven't seen a single sign in the mall wishing me a Happy Thanksgiving. As a matter of fact, I haven't even had one single person wish me a Happy Thanksgiving.
Is it culture or just being way to busy that keeps us from showing thanks?
Jesus knew this was true even in His own day. He heals 10 lepers and only 1 returns to thank Him. That sounds about right...10 percent. What is interesting is that all 10 were healed but Jesus told the 1 that he was whole. This word has intriqued me for a while. What does it mean to be "whole"?
Without going into a bible study or trying to "exegete" the phrase, let me just say one thing...there are a bunch ( and probably all) of us who need a healing somewhere in our lives. Maybe the wholeness comes when we start giving thanks.....hmmmm. Think about it.
And while I'm at it, let me say "thanks" to every one of you. Thanks for reading and thanks for your friendship.
